Piano reduction = urtext?

This has been bugging me for a little while; how can the piano reduction of Vanhal's double bass concerto edited by Rudolf Malarić be an urtext edition if it is itself an arrangement? We know for a fact that it isn't the composer's piano reduction, because the only source we have is the set of parts...

Re: Problems with the French translation of the "General Information" headings

I think these are the pages with the French translations. They do seem to be incomplete, if you compare them with their parent pages.

person
imslppage
imslpfile
imslpfileentry
imslpaudio
imslpaudioentry

And others.

Re: Copyright issues

Cross-post to the relevant discussion (because I was getting worried that this wasn't being addressed, even though it was)

Re: My plans for the 'List of Compositions Featuring the Double Bass' page

I've had a go at it, without touching the transcriptions and orchestral sections for now. I've removed quite a few entries in the "chamber music" section; most of those were flat out wrong, but some of them were excluded on more subjective grounds (I prioritized dead and/or professional co...

Re: Living Composer

Although I'm not exactly qualified, this has gone unanswered for a week, ... The works you want to upload will have to be licensed under one of the Creative Commons licenses . All the variants have one thing in common - they allow the works to be freely redistributed anywhere - but with varying leve...

Relevant:

The "chamber music" category could rightfully include many works that are currently tagged for string quartet with cello. Not calling for an edit war, but this could be mentioned or linked to discreetly somewhere.

Re: Please kill this page with fire

Are you talking about the whole work itself mis-attributed or one of the files? The whole work, as I've found out, is by a composer whose works are still under copyright (Liu Raozhang, 1905-1996). There is a slight possibility that the melody featured on the page is actually PD, if the following is...

Please kill this page with fire

http://imslp.org/wiki/Chun_Jiang_Hua_Yue_Ye_(Folk_Songs,_Chinese) That piece is not a traditional melody set to the words of a Tang Dynasty-era poem. It was composed by Liu Raozhang [柳尧章] (1905-1996) for an orchestra of traditional instruments with a solo Pipa (琵琶, balloon-shaped lute). The solo pa...

Quality of my scans?

Can anyone rate my scans on this page ? Other than a few slightly skewed pages and a smudge here and there, I thought they were pretty good. I will soon receive a similar work that I intend to scan, and I want to know if there's anything critical that I need to do better, and whether or not that boz...

Re: My plans for the 'List of Compositions Featuring the Double Bass' page

For completeness, http://imslp.org/wiki/List_of_Compositions_Featuring_the_Double_Bass could be a collection of links to http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:For_double_bass http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:For_viola,_double_bass etc. I was already planning on it, but some of those categories are too large...

My plans for the 'List of Compositions Featuring the Double Bass' page

First of all, I'd like to sincerely thank the admins, copyright reviewers and tagging team for putting up with me for the past month and a half; my goal was to fight the confusion and obscurity that surrounds the double bass solo literature, and although my wishlist keeps getting larger, I think the...

Re: Composer mixed up with his brother (Labro)

In this particular case I would say create the new composer and move the three concertinos to his category and then we should delete the Antoine Auguste Labro category since our intention isn't to equate the two people as being one and the same as was the case with Edouard Nanny and Édouard Nanny. ...

Re: Composer mixed up with his brother (Labro)

I don't think I'm empowered to do so. Apparantly I do have the necessary permissions, if I do it the same way Cypressdome moved the Edouard Nanny composer page (make a new composer page, copy paste, make the old redirect to the new, and move all individual work pages). I'll gladly do this with Labr...

Composer mixed up with his brother (Labro)

There are two brothers ( source ): Charles Labro (1810-1882), contrabassist, composer, and conservatory professor. Antoine Auguste Labro (1817-1887), who doesn't seem to have written any music. On IMSLP, Charles Labro's compositions are attributed to Antoine Auguste: https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:...
