Fix for sharps, flats, naturals

Having been fed up with typing "C#", "Bb", etc. I've borrowed a solution from Wikipedia so that the symbols should display correctly. So inserting the following (case-sensitive) codes into the Wiki should produce the correctly-formatted music symbols of the same names: {{Sharp}} ...

Sortable lists of works

Hello everyone. I'm trying out a new type of worklist that can be sorted by title, opus, catalogue numbers, genres, etc. and would appreciate your opinions. One for Dvořák‎ can now be seen at: http://imslp.org/wiki/Sortable_list_of_works_by_Anton%C3%ADn_Leopold_Dvo%C5%99%C3%A1k I'm using the Wikisor...

That's a good idea. I can think of some very basic matters of terminology it would be helpful to clarify, such as "Cello" vs "Violoncello", or the best way to represent flats/sharps in text when referring to key signatures. It would be helpful if there was somewhere we could exch...

Proposals for Layout of Work Pages

This has been mentioned in another thread, but we're trying to set down guidelines for a consistent layout on the IMSLP work (composition) pages. You can see the current thinking here: http://imslp.org/wiki/User:P.davydov/standards Anyone is welcome to join the discussion on that page's talk section...

As promised I've put together some proposed standards here: http://imslp.org/wiki/User:P.davydov/standards Just looking at a random sample, probably 50% of our existing pages would require no change if these standards were agreed, but they may be helpful in resolving some awkward issues. Could any c...

OK, I've begun to standardise the headings on the Tchaikovsky pages, taking into account the discussions above, and will report back... One point that has already arisen concerns orchestral parts for large-scale works, where the files for each part are so large that they have been sub-divided. This ...

Some good suggestions here, and our goal should be to come up with something that is both simple to understand and to implement. With this in mind, and after a great deal of soul-searching and experimentation, I would like to propose just two top-level headings: "Original Works" and "...

I've added some information on the contents of the Dvorak edition, but identifying the publication dates of each volume, and adding hyperlinks to the work pages will take a little longer... if anyone else would like to volunteer :)

Hmm... In the text quoted by Perlnerd666 I meant to put an exclamation mark rather than the question mark that actually appeared, resulting in confusion rather than the mild amusement intended. Anyway, I'm very grateful to Daphnis for taking the trouble to track down the first edition, and it will b...

If you can provide me with more precise info., such as possible date, page count and perhaps plate I could probably get my hands on such an edition. Thanks for the offer. The first edition of the full score was published by P. Jurgenson in Moscow in 1882 (75 pages, plate no. 4592), with the title i...

Sorry, I didn't specify what I meant. I don't always like the computer generated works because they can be innacurate; also, my question should have been: What happened to 'God Save the Tsar' in the first file on the site? Thanks Well... performing "God Save the Tsar" during Soviet times ...

If we're talking about the texts of Russian songs or libretti, then reverse transliteration is important for the performers, and I could be persuaded to put up with the odd 'j' here and there :) But as regards the names of composers and work lists, my vote is for using the Wikipedia system. So we'd ...
