Re: Overrated, Overused, Overdone, underrated etc.

The only piece by Mahler that I find overdone is his First Symphony, which is programmed by nearly every orchestra. I don't find it satisfying to listen to, and I feel it is one of his least inspired works. His Seventh and Adagio from No. 10 I find are not played enough, and they really are fantast...

Re: Best Composer ever

There can, of course, be no sane, rational doubt that the greatest composer ever was anyone but Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich. Bach and Mozart did not write music; they were talentless hacks who wrote muzak . I love Shostakovich as much as the next 20th century Russian music lover, but this is ju...

Shostakovich's 4th, 5th, and 7th Symphonies Yes, I know this is a very strange list. These came to mind first....

Chet Baker.
Before him, it was Sibelius's First Symphony.

Re: Bruckner and Mahler Requests

I would love more Mahler orchestral scores such as the 3rd, 4th, and 7th....all of them would be nice. Also, is it really going to be years and years before some of the scores are unblocked?
