Re: Cambridge University Attendees---IMSLP needs your help!
These little-Hitler librarians need dealing with. I know two librarians and will have a word with them to see what they think. I know for a fact they'll approve strongly of IMSLP but wonder (a) what they think of their 'anal' colleagues and (b) how they should best be dealt with. Someone from IMSLP ...

Re: What to do next.,,,
When I do typesetting... keep proofreading a movement repeatedly once a day, until I do not find any errors on two consecutive days. I do roughly the same, then send them to a friend who plays them through. It's amazing how errors slip by. It's one reason why production editors on newspapers are st...

Re: Reproducing scores from Petrucci music library
I agree, but still I don't like it 100%... Me neither. But there's nothing wrong with a private company seeking to profiteer from IMSLP's work being named and shamed on this forum. This is a well spidered site so, hopefully, some potential customers will spot the discussion and choose to avoid the ...
Re: Favicon
A good logo would automatically solve the issue of the favicon... Exactly. In terms of branding, everything flows from the logo. Or, to put it another way, until the logo's got right - a good, light, professional image which management and users are happy with - IMSLP branding will be flawed. That'...

Re: Publishing a re-engraving of an IMSLP score
Well, the PDFs themselves are not copyrightable, because of the status of the work (yes, it's "code," but not really). So you can do whatever - the PDFs are just images of public domain sources, and not copyrightable in and of themselves. That gets to the root imo of the confusion in the ...

Re: Publishing a re-engraving of an IMSLP score
reinhold, Thanks for your help. 8) This public domain work is NOT owned by IMSLP, in fact it is not owned by anyone any more, thus "*Public* domain". There is no requirement to attribute IMSLP, but of course a link is always nice and helps spread word about IMSLP... Point taken. I was thin...

Publishing a re-engraving of an IMSLP score
Hi, I want to publish a performance edition (a new typesetting or re-engraving) of Telemann's keyboard fantasias TWV 33. IMSLP publish a public domain score here . I don't want to make money from the project, beyond covering reasonable costs, and want it to be as freely available as the IMSLP score....

Re: The Harpsichord in Symphonies
Entirely normal to have a harpsichord or fortepiano filling in the harmony in classical symphonies. It's one reason some modern performances of Mozart and Haydn sound so odd: they omit the keyboard and sparsely orchestrated passages sound bare and incomplete. The practice fell out of favour with the...

Banner link to IMSLP
Hi, I help admin a classical music forum and would like to carry a front page banner link to IMSLP. If that's OK, which image would you prefer? This one? http://oysiao.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/imslp2.jpg I've carried a sticky on IMSLP for some time and think the project's fabulous. Best wishes, P...
