Re: Upcoming changes

I am a professional freelance pianist. For a living, I teach lessons, accompany dance classes, plan and lead church music, and perform in various contexts. Every one of these jobs has been made easier by IMSLP. I have gratefully received free services from IMSLP for years, free services that help me...

Re: Are any piano scores listed by difficulty?

There are already several good indexes out there. The boards that do examinations often publish their syllabi online. If you want a very, very long list, you could buy Jane Magrath's excellent book on teaching repertoire. But for what you're looking for, the simplest solution is probably to just loo...

Pischna piano technique exercises

Are these public domain? I would like to take the pdfs linked here and put them on imslp
http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=22698.0
Pischna died in 1896.
I don't know what edition this is, but it says CD Sheet Music on it, and we know that company likes to reissue PD editions.

Re: Questions about Le Tombeau de Couperin

I keep coming back to 1235. Combining two-note groups into single wrist movements seems to work well. I see the logic of 2345 though.
The Prelude is quite easy below tempo, and quite hard at tempo!

Re: Drigo and Pugni - piano reduction scores of ballets

I posted a piano arrangement of the female variation I made by ear for a class I'm accompanying. If anyone knows how to make the Arrangements and Transcriptions tab and put it under there, I'd appreciate it. Hope this is helpful to you too shound!

Re: Drigo and Pugni - piano reduction scores of ballets

Any word on Talisman? I wouldn't mind making a reduction of the Drigo-Pugni pas de deux if someone has full score.

Re: IMSLP website(s) not working for me?

And here I thought IMSLP had just been down for 3 weeks!
My tablet doesn't allow me to run things as admin, so my solution was just changing my bookmark to be the IP address (192.95.29.59) instead of www.imslp.org.
Thanks for posting it!

Re: Johan Daniel Berlin, Sonatina in D minor for keyboard 5

Here is the scribd link http://www.scribd.com/doc/128980261/Sonatina-Johann-Daniel-Berlin-1751 (3 pages = first movement only, and I am looking for all five mvts.) The $9 is a subscription -- they don't let you pay for a file individually. I almost never use scribd, so on the 2 occasions so far that...

Johan Daniel Berlin, Sonatina in D minor for keyboard 5 mvts

I spent $9 to download this from Scribd and it turned out it was only the first movement out of 5! :x It was written in 1751. The pdf I downloaded says at the bottom "Eiendom for alle land". I think it is Norwegian. No information about publisher or editor is on the pdf. Here is a link to ...

Re: Copyright protection warnings on contemporary composers

I found this confusing at first, as well. The relevant information, "An exception is if the person or copyright holder allows IMSLP to use the works in a manner similar to a work in the public domain," is buried in the middle of the paragraph that follows the red print. What about: Unless ...

Combine search and category walker?

Is there any way to combine the search function with the category walker?

For example, to search for pieces for piano with "Light" in the title.

Re: Want late 20th Century Scores. Any recommendations?

Why not just look at IMSLP's inventory for that time period? Probably a lot of the scores will have the characteristics you're looking for. On the left sidebar click Browse Scores > Time Period, then in the chart click Modern (1945-present). This isn't foolproof -- if the composer wrote anything pos...
