I think "sentence capitalization" as I described in the first post, and as Carolus has quoted from the Chicago Manual of Style, is the most elegant and straightforward and a brief search of WorldCat will show that it is the most widely used by libraries as well. Does anyone object to its u...

French Capitalization

We need to conform to a standard in capitalizing French titles. The library standard is only the first word is capitalized, even if it is an article, and only proper nouns thereafter. For example: L'enfant et les sortilèges, L'heure espagnole, Le roi de Lahore, Le tribut de Zamora, Les Turcs, Les Tr...
