I want to discuss Elgar's Introduction and Allegro (edit, you need to go on Google, type in "Introduction and Allegro." It's the 7th link, I believe, the Google Books Result ). Google says on the first page that they, (Google) proudly hosts the file without legal worries. (Besides, who wou...

Google actually hosts some scores. In the first page of each score that they have, they cite that they are perfectly legal. And think about it, who would be stupid enough to "sue" Google like UE did to IMSLP? That's like asking for Mordor to spit out Goblins and demons at all of Middle-Ear...

Is there a place...

... where I can discuss conducting/teaching a piece of music? Judging from the recent user-activity on the forums [or rather decreasingly thereof] I was wondering if there was another place where I can go for a serious music education/conducting discussion.

I still don't follow. As a pre-professional musician myself, I would've said that amateur music is music that a musician/composer will fully understand, but will provoke confusion in the audience, since the music wasn't written/performed in a way that is easily comprehensible (hence amateur?). Perha...

Yeah, same here. Now, I have to drive 2-5 miles (roughly 10-20 minutes) to the UCSD library to check out a score... And it's not a guarantee either, because often times the scores I want are already checked out by another student. Btw, aldona, what's the meaning of your signature? I don't quite foll...

He is still communicating with me, and still rubbishing IMSLP and claiming it has a "catastrophically flawed system".
What's IMSLP's plan-of-action right now?

and with IMSLP going down they probably stopped looking. They are still watching the forums. Oh they definitely are. In fact, I got an e-mail from one of their publicity people saying that what I said was "misleading" and that they merely redirected all communication to my retainer. Appar...

I expected something along these lines as well. Someone within UE probably sent the cease-and-desist, and with IMSLP going down they probably stopped looking.

Then again, I'm not the administrator here, it's all just speculation. :-\

You know what would happen? Modern works would be blocked in the USA. What does this mean for us? It means, (and I'll tell you) : People in the USA will be upset. Trust me, a lot of students here just at my high school used IMSLP, and even more in the nearby colleges here in California. And not to m...

Unacceptable! I have been an avid user of IMSLP for 2 years now, and my school's students used it every so often too. Could IMSLP be integrated into another portion of a website, such as SourceForge? If not, I have a team of students at my high school who are interested in taking in some music, but ...

I posted this in a private message but I'll post this publicly now. Pretty much all of my dad's friends are lawyers, and I come from a family of musicians... I could offer legal assistance. Also, my friend and I run a website and have 4 domain names remaining... So as far as financially running a we...

*sigh*. Did they really have to do this? Where do you live? I'm in Southern California.... Pretty all much dad's friends are lawyers. Even stranger is that my public high school used to use IMSLP a lot. And as a public high school, we're associated with the US federal government, how could some corp...
