Re: is removal of certain editing features enough?

are you referring to the edition of Rust's sonatas by his own grandson or something iirc? (The set that William Newman singled out in The Sonata Since Beethoven rather negatively if I recall for intrusiveness of editing, to the point (that Newman talked about how) the more recent Rust claimed protoR...

Re: This is a little weird

Ah, the National Library of Finland has 504... (looking for any mention whether the first 5 piano sonatas or violin sonata were published, though.) Ah. "Sonaatit, piano, nro 3, op85", pub.1943.

Re: This is a little weird

The Finnish network "Helmet" (haku.helmet.fi I think) has about 260 works of sheet music by, including collections containing, Kilpinen; not sure how many aren't in the sources -already- sought though...

Re: This is a little weird

I'm well able to get his list of works with composition dates. I'm interested in dates of publication and copyright dates/renewal dates. Probably the best websites to check are OPACs of Finnish libraries, for obvious reasons, since Worldcat is no longer interested in them, etc. Will check. Scorser -...

Re: Francesco Paolo Neglia

"Costante Adolfo Bossi (1876 – 1953) was an Italian organist, composer and teacher. He was the brother of Marco Enrico Bossi and Pietro Bossi." (from Wikipedia. Which has Costante, btw, not Constante. Maybe I misread viaf.org :) ) IMSLP already has a category for him at Bossi, Costante Ado...

Re: Francesco Paolo Neglia

That's probably C. Adolfo Bossi, 1876-1953. Not sure off the top of my kep what "C." stands for. Ah, according to Worldcat, it's Adolfo Constante Bossi. But I'd just create a workpage for Nostalgia, Romanza senza Parole for piano, composed in 1901, see http://www.francescopaoloneglia.it/in...

Re: This is a little weird

The works I'd be most interested in (e.g. cello sonata Op.90; 6 piano sonatas up to Op.89 ; violin sonata) were I think composed a bit too late anyway (1936 or so for the cello sonata (©1939 in US, 1948 in Europe, 1951 in E Germany, am I _reading_ that right?) and the 6th piano sonata (ah. ©1943, pu...

Re: Francesco Paolo Neglia

Oh ok, no, my mistake, the answer's not there, but I think it is here . I remember looking for it back when I was uploading arrangements by Renzo Bossi (a few years ago- reuploaded them recently because they're now PD-CA, but ...) of - well, see these 2 Neglia gavottes ... Edit: no, not that either....

Re: This is a little weird

Hrm ? I just typed Kilpinen site:imslp.org . Then today I went to archive.org and wayback-machined imslp.org/wiki/Category:Kilpinen,_Yrjö with or without umlaut, middle-name, etc, several variants. It has no such page archived. Maybe I'm just mistaken after all and no such category or pages were eve...

This is a little weird

It seems that the composer category, and all music by, the composer Yrjö Kilpinen (1892-1959) has disappeared. I can't think of any copyright reason, publication of his music occurred in a reasonable time (and we have music by composers whose music was all published after 1966 anyway- but his wasn't...

Re: Are fantasias really arrangements?

given that they are both in the fantasias tag and often in the OpDerivs categories should they also be in the arrangements sections? I have been following my "muse" as it were removing the "page type=arrangement" lines that these pages have been put in by one editor (or another.....

Are fantasias really arrangements?

I wasn't aware that a fantasy on the themes from an opera was the same as an arrangement of that opera (or of a section of that opera); I was fairly sure there was a distinct difference. The latter is closer to transcription, for one thing, though not necessarily the same thing. Still, I see fantasi...
