Re: Charpentier Lamentations H 409

generally our guidelines, though not rules, are to move one page to the other instead. Can do.

Re: WRONG NAME

Very wrong.
"If the title is the name of a standard, generic type or form of work (e.g. symphony, concerto, sonata, suite, string quartet, piano trio, nocturne), then English is preferred". From IMSLP Manual of Style, the which you should please read before uploading -anything-.

Re: Margaret Ruthven Lang Op.52 "Night of the Star" cycle

I have what I think is a better scan of the first two movements to upload and am working on the rest.
All 4 movements uploaded.

Re: Margaret Ruthven Lang Op.52 "Night of the Star" cycle

I will give it another go, but neither of my scanning techniques has really passed muster. This, Genius Scan, requires me to hurry lest it mistake my arm for the next page while I'm doing a rapid pageturn, and you've probably seen the issue with my previous scans from similarly rigid-but-not-belongi...

Re Op.2 being unsurprisingly public domain in the US since Opp.1&3 are: just be aware there are a number of "surprising" exceptions :), so it's good to know.

Re: Opus clavicembalisticum, KSS 50 (Sorabji, Kaikhosru Shapurji)

I thought we counted date of first performance as date of first publication (if earlier - in this case, 1930) or is that only for as-yet-unpublished works?

Margaret Ruthven Lang Op.52 "Night of the Star" cycle

Just created a (imperfect - pages are tilted- but better than my usual, and B&W) scan of MR Lang's Op.52 Christmas Cycle, published 1913 by Ditson. (Words by Denis A. McCarthy, 1871-1931.) I regret to say I've forgotten how to unlock the composer category if I ever knew, so I'm requesting some h...

Re: Theodor Szántó's orchestral works?

True. Apologies. Publication will have its usual term of art meaning since it’s looking like most may exist as manuscripts only, of course…

Re: Theodor Szántó's orchestral works?

The only published orchestral work of his I have so far found is a march, but I will look further … also, not every library is listed online, and it also helps to remember which major ones that are, aren’t included by Worldcat. If there are recent good books or dissertations about his life and music...

Re: Requesting for the Full Scores of Chôros No.6 and Chôros No.12 by Villa-Lobos

I meant whether parts can be manually extracted from scores. Sometimes for certain clever values of manually, sometimes the need for the editor, as with collating the score, is more obvious. Scores are for reading or conducting from, parts for playing from, and ambiguities (was that sharp meant to c...

That was the sound of a thousand editors saying, “hold my beer.” Legally true as no -creative- editorial work is usually involved (there are exceptions), but…

Re: Requesting for the Full Scores of Chôros No.6 and Chôros No.12 by Villa-Lobos

Apologies, with iucat's Villa-Lobos site apparently down I need to check other sources than Worldcat (or find a book as authoritative as the old website more or less was. Worldcat, at any rate, gets no.10 right, but not 6 & 12. I should also have checked the individual Wikipedia pages on each of...

Re: Requesting for the Full Scores of Chôros No.6 and Chôros No.12 by Villa-Lobos

I believe no.6 (1928) may have waited to be published by Eschig until as late as 1987. There are at least 5 libraries in the US one can borrow the 178-page miniature full score from, but it is, I believe, unlikely to appear on IMSLP for quite some time for copyright reasons (I may be mistaken). No.1...
