Re: Bartok Viola Concerto?

Hi Epos. Some pieces, like the Bartok viola concerto, are public domain in neither the US nor the European Union, and are thus marked "[TB]", which stands for "Technical Block". These scores have been blocked because they are not legal to download in both of the areas from which ...

Re: MIDI

Thanks for pointing out the program, it's really useful. But some people (like me) who don't know about the program might find it perhaps easier to find stand alone MIDI files on IMSLP. It's also much easier and probably better organized. Plus you could play along with things you didn't even know ex...

MIDI

Hi everyone! I was actually with my brother at a restaurant that had karaoke couple months ago, and it occurred to me that the idea of 'music-minus-one' for instrumentalists would be very, very useful. As a violinist, I know I've always wanted to 'play along' with the piano accompaniments for many o...

Stravinsky

Hi, Last year around this time I started a Stravinsky list with the possibility that in due time it might be desirable to use the cataloging system on IMSLP. Carl advocated the idea of IMSLP cataloging numbers with Italian Baroque composers a while back, but I see no reason this same system can't be...

Re: Scores from Wikimedia Italia

I would find some public domain or creative commons scores and then transfer them over here by uploading them. That is definitely a good start. At first glance I don't seem to be able to find any scores though.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Re: Is the site-ripping script too strict???

My internet connection is finally fast again, so I decided to go on an "edit streak" tonight. I ran into the site ripping ban, so I'll be back at 1 AM to continue working (1 hour). Any way administrators can be exempt from site ripping ban? I know that bureaucrats are, and it's really anno...

Re: IMSLP to merge with WIMA

What a year! After almost a year of hard work, I can't believe this project is finally finished. I thought it would be only appropriate to celebrate this with a post on the IMSLP journal. http://imslpjournal.org/wima-project-complete/ To paraphrase Carolus, I think we could all use a two month vacat...

Re: My scans don't get copyright checked any more

I may have been inactive, but I shouldn't have been inactive in the first place. I have a duty to this site as a CR and administrator. It's not just a title, it's a commitment. A writing-heavy project may have put me in a position of leadership on the CR team, and suddenly dropping out of activity w...

Re: My scans don't get copyright checked any more

Actually, I should feel much more guilty. I'm supposed to be active, and I'm especially supposed to be active when it comes to CR. It makes no sense to head a CR project and then not do copyright review for several months.

You're off the hook on this one... If anyone is to blame, it's me.

Unlikely, but stranger things have happened. US Copyright law is a mess.

Re: My scans don't get copyright checked any more

Your efforts are so much appreciated, many thanks for contributing. Your scans have been a wonderful addition to this site from the start. Sadly, with Carolus on vacation and KGill working, copyright review is a very large workload. The "great WIMA tsunami" (to correctly quote Carolus) mak...

Tutorials

A recent post brought to like that there are, to my knowledge, no tutorials for IMSLP. This person's question reminded me of an idea that I've been churning around in my head for a while: It might be a good idea for IMSLP to have an official Youtube channel. We have a Facebook, Twitter, Journal. Why...
