Re: Copyright Information Project

Feel free to quote any of it. By law, it is free. However, I would like to have the link to your blog where you will be quoting the material. Not for any legal reason, but I'm honored that our copyright writing is finding use somewhere other than IMSLP. One main idea behind the copyright information...

Re: [FEAT] search by date

We would have to work out Russian dates as well. They didn't switch to the Gregorian calender until 1917. We don't even know when a lot of Russian artists were born. Nijinsky for instance...

Re: Texture in a Beethoven sonata

This is an immensely difficult topic. All of the Beethoven sonatas have different textures. The easiest (and quickest) way to describe texture is in the number of voices. Describe it in terms of monophony, polyphony, heterophony (unlikely for Beethoven piano sonata), etc. Then you can describe the f...

Re: [FEAT] search by date

It would be useful, but it would be complicated for publication dates.

Re: Books on melodic intervals?

Well, it's not finished yet. But when it is, the "Material of Music" by Nicholas D. Lewis (see academia.edu) will have full descriptions of the melodic intervals. Try any early music theory textbook - Rameau's 1722 treatise talks about it. Book 3 or 4 I think. Some early counterpoint books...

Work Page Overload?

http://imslp.org/wiki/Nannerl%27s_Music_Book_(Various)#IMSLP226281 It seems as though this page will not display - at least not on my computer. The issue is probably that the page is too long, I remember reading that somewhere. Hopefully this can be corrected... I can't try to remedy the situation b...

Re: download counter

Yes, I have noticed this. Carolus sent Feldmahler a message on his talk page last night about it. I think Feldmahler will look into it; last I heard was that he was going to look into getting another server.

Re: Problem button

Hi Notenschreiber. I think it depends on the nature of the issue. If it's a copyright problem, then it's probably better to contact a copyright reviewer. It's really just a matter of judgement as there are no set guidelines on this. I think that most admins do care about the "work page issue&qu...

It's a pain that his music is still played in the concert halls toady.

Why do you think it's horribly written?

Where might I find the original account of the hysteria caused by the first public performances of Anton von Webern's 12-tone pieces?

Re: Copyright Information Project

Hi Steltz. I don't see why not, South Africa is a great country to add. If you would like to write it, please feel free to go ahead. South Africa's copyright laws are based on a lot of court decisions, so make sure you reserarch some of the decisions, I think they're important. Thanks so much for th...
