Re: Question on Neue Mozart-Ausgabe -Piano Quartet E-flat K.

The dates and editor in both instances seem to be the same; I would venture to say there has been no change in the NMA edition other than, possibly, in the commentary.

Re: Haydn Wind Works

I believe Henle publishes some of these, but they aren't cheap. Hob. II:14 is in a collection that goes for $148 (via Hal Leonard).

Re: Does anyone knowaboutrecentVivaldiconcertodiscoveryinDre

It doesn't seem that the two articles are talking about the same music. The Musical America article, written by Carlo Vitali, mentions a concerto in A major, an outright discovery. The German article, by Michael Talbot, discusses two concertos in D major and D minor, both of which, if my cursory rea...

Re: Cramer Etüden commented by Beethoven

You may already be aware that there is some disagreement about whether Beethoven or Anton Schindler is the actual author of the commentary. In any event, Universal Editions publishes these etudes, with "Beethoven" credited as the commentary author, catalog # UE13353. The U. S. distributor i...

Re: What are the benefits of having perfect pitch?

Aris, your gentle disagreement is noted. Perhaps I wasn't precise enough in my posting. (1) Please read the entire Wikipedia article on "absolute pitch"; otherwise, we're not close to sharing the same basis for discussion. (2) The article seems to confirm my own experience, as I have not m...

Re: What are the benefits of having perfect pitch?

I would recommend reading the excellent Wikipedia article on Absolute Pitch. There is no significant indication that it can be taught. My own experience: absolute (perfect) pitch has definite drawbacks. The "A" known as such to one possessing this ability is linked to a particular number o...
