Vaclav Veit is not and never was his name

Wenzel Heinrich Veit (1804-1864) was born in Repnitz, at the time a German town in the Bohemian part of the Habsburg Empire. Until recently, he was ignored by the Czechs who have suddenly claimed him as one of theirs and have "baptized" him with the Czech version of his name Vaclav Jindric...

Yes it was a typo. Op.29 is Juon's third string quartet, i.e. No.3

von Call String Qt No.2 Viola Part

The Steiner Plate No. for this quartet is 2695. The viola part, however, is plate no.1533. It is not in the same key, does not have the same movements etc. Obviously, it is the part to something else and as such the work is unplayable.

Raff String Quartet No.2 Damaged File?

I have tried to download the file using several different browsers and it consistently does not open and gives the message that the file is damaged. Is this just me or is the file damaged?

Re: Missing Page Cello Part Boccherini G.418

Check your part closely. There should be another page after the page with the 11th variaiton. It is the page with the last movement, the Polonaise. It is missing. You can see this if you look at the piano score or the other parts. The quintet does not end with Variation 11. If for some reason you ar...

Richter Op.5 No.1 mislabeled

The quartet you have listed under this opus number is not Op.5 No.1. Op.5 No.1 is the only one of Richter's six quartets which received a modern reprint. It was from Breitkopf and Hartel. Op.5 No.1 is in C Major. It is Richter's best known quartet. It also has been recorded several times. This quart...

Berteau Op.25 Mislabeled

What appears via the title to be the Op.25 cello sonata of Martin Berteau, and which only has the Grave as arranged by Salmon does not, at least from the music, appear to be that of Berteau but of G. Sammartini (1700-1770)

Cui Kaleidoscope Op.50 Missing No.19

While mention is made that the violin part to No.11 is missing, no mention is made that No.19 Valse is entirely missing. This should be noted so that perhaps someone can contribute it.

Re: George Onslow not Georges

I would also point out that the composer did not sign his name Georges but George. Examination of his corresponce q.v. the works of Baudim Jam, Vivienne Niaux, Richard Frank & R.H.R. Silvertrust to name a few of the top authorities on this composer confirm this. Surely if the composer called him...

George Onslow not Georges

The composer's given name is Andre George Louis Onslow. He did not go by the names of Andre or Louis, and he certainly did not go by the name of Georges. Even Wikipedia finally got it right. Though he was born in France and lived most of his life there and considered himself French, he was only half...

Gernsheim Op.37 is not Piano Trio No.4

Gernsheim wrote 2 pianto trios, Opp.28 and 37. He did not write four piano trios. q.v. New Grove, Cobbett's Cyclopedic Survey of Chamber Music and Altmann's Handbuch fur Klaviertriospieler.

Hence, Op.28 is Piano Trio No.1 and
Op.37 is Piano Trio No.2
