Re: Upcoming changes

A few points to Carolus's response to this controversy. But first I say again, that the 15 seconds per se are no big deal to me; the fact that so many people feel blindsided by the announcement is a very big deal however and I am not sure Carolus understands the implications of this. I am dismayed b...

Re: Upcoming changes

Having followed this thread for some time now I think there are some lessons to learn from it. For us contributors and users and for the "management". Specially referring to the long and detailed post by lxh5032 I would come to the following summary: 1. Consider what would have happened if...

Re: Guidelines for submitting digital scores (MusicXML, MEI) and notation program formats?

Thanks, I'll try one example and if successful I will by and by add the source files everywhere I can.

Re: Guidelines for submitting digital scores (MusicXML, MEI) and notation program formats?

This raises another question: I still have the source files for my typesets. Do you want me to upload them? They are musescore files and some elements keep walking around and need to be repositioned every time the file is opened; I was glad I could nail everything down by converting to Pdf (the prob...

Re: Typeset Parts!!!!

Hurrah! I posted the question of file size on the forum of musescore.org. Turns out the problem occurs only with Mac OS, Windows and Linux do fine. They are aware of the problem and think they have a solution, but it won't be forthcoming soon. In the mean time however a genius over at Musescore name...

Re: Typeset Parts!!!!

BTW any criticism of my typesets is welcome. Especially if you find errors that spoil the music or make performance hard.

It'll help me avoid the same errors in the future. And if serious enough I'll correct the errors.

Re: Typeset Parts!!!!

I noticed that too. And I tried to find out how to reduce file size--and for a while it worked (if you look at the Onslow violin sonatas you will find generally smaller files). Then I had to update my operating system and a new version of my typesetting software (musescore) came out (which has optic...

Re: New score submission

Thanks very much! I understand the basics now (not the technical part of it mind you). This discussion has had my favorite result: I don't have to do any work...

So thank you!

Re: Typeset Parts!!!!

I plead guilty to uploading typeset parts  . However, I follow for myself these rules :?: : - I consider the work in question worthy of performance (if I change my mind about that during typesetting I won't download). Only chamber music so far. - Parts for the work in question are either un...

Re: New score submission

I think I didn't quite understand the form that comes up under "add a work" on the category page: is this form to add a work to the list of works on the category page? Anyhow on that page my name appears already entered as the composer with the warning "don't edit this unless you know...

New score submission

I got a message on my category page that said there was now a new and easier score submission. I had to click some links to confirm that I am I and can now click the wheel on top and get a brand new submission page (or have I just found something that was always there?). I don't quite understand and...

Example ACMP

Regarding Edward's latest post about the various funding attempts I had an idea: Why not talk to similar "enterprises" who may have been able to manage this problem? Specifically I am thinking about ACMP (amateur chamber music players, acmp.net; if you don't know it check it out, I truly r...

Re: Upcoming changes

What bothers me is the intensity of the response to the user / 15 second wait that has been introduced. I am willing to concede that there are good arguments on both sides. But the opponents of the measure seem to be so emotional about it that I start believing there is more to this than just the 15...

Re: Mazas String quartets op 7

This page is truly unlucky. Now that the typeset parts are ok (I just checked) the thumbnail shows a page from the source instead of the typeset. Can this be fixed?

Re: IMSLP Journal Launch & Call for Articles

I submitted a piece for consideration for the journal through one of the e-mail addresses given (the other one appears to be no longer working) about two weeks ago. No it is perfectly fine to consider the piece unsuitable for this purpose. But I did expect some sort of response and I am still waitin...
