BORODIN Prince Igor FS

Dear IMSLP

Thank you so very much for putting up Borodin's Prince Igor. Is there a reason Act Three is missing?

Thanks again to the scanner for his/her enormous efforts.

David

Re: Stanford Morning, Evening, and Communion services

I know the church I ring bells at has an excellent choir, and they have sung Stanford's mass settings quite often. I'll see if I can't get hold of a copy.

Pirates of Penzance - missing section

Thank you for the uploader for scanning the parts for Pirates of Penzance. The viola part is missing a section near the end of the overture (one whole line of music I think).

Can this possibly be rectified?

thanks

Re: Dvorak's opera Dimitrij

Dear kalliwoda - thank you so much for your assistance. I do own a vocal score (though it's not really anything like the recent Czech Philharmonic recording I own).

Re: The devine and illusive Louis Spohr

Thank you to one and all for your interesting replies. His Symphonies have been recorded at least twice in (almost) complete sets. The best, in my humble view are those by the Swiss-Italian Orchestra; sadly this set misses a couple of the nine for some strange reason (I did purchase these on iTunes)...

Re: Dvorak's opera Dimitrij

I've now written to a couple of Czech opera companies (in particular their music departments) and no reply.

This saddens me, deeply. Such a wonderfully (yes flawed) work.

The devine and illusive Louis Spohr

There is some fine music in PDF here, as we all know. But I long for full scores of the symphonies of Louis Spohr. There's only one here. The rest of the listings are arrangements for different ensembles (and often only of a movement or two). This troubles me as I love his musical voice so deeply, w...

Re: Why is there no english opera?

I think Arthur Sullivan might just be surprised by your teacher's comment. Look up Ivanhoe, a wonderful opera, now recorded professional by a Welsh team.

Re: Sullivan manuscript

Thanks to one and all for their input into this thread, which opened a whole new world of insite into the workings of libraries who have rare manuscripts in their possession. I the "fragile" argument a little hard to swallow as digitizing, whilst expensive in both time and hardware, ensure...

Re: Orpheus 2nd Violin part

Hey romanov Yes, I did notice they removed the unnecessary copies of the first violin part. This is a wonderful resource from the library in Switzerland. Some of the manuscripts are so beautiful as to be easily read, there are rare exceptions, for example the flute part for Orpheus is horrific. I'd ...

Re: Orpheus 2nd Violin part

As an update to this, there is in fact a 2nd violin part, after a little sleuthing from the uploader and a reference to the library in Geneve where it's housed. Bingo.

Orpheus 2nd Violin part

Hi all - there is an almost complete set of band parts to Offenbach's Orfée aux Enfer (Orpheus in the Underworld), but it is missing the 2nd Violin part, anyone able to rectify this as it is useless without that.
