Re: Koussevitsky Double Bass Concerto

Hello, it seems to me like Farid Zehar's edition matches that of the Robert Forberg, in the original key and also transposed one whole step lower so that it can be played with the double bass tuned in the standard orchestral tuning rather than in "solo tuning". Also keep in mind that Zehar...

Re: Updated Licensing Policy and Guidelines

Hi, I only just saw this. I recognize the issue because I too have struggled with the ambiguities of the NC licenses; I've used CC BY-SA-NC on some of my own compositions but with a note that explicitly voids the SA and NC for performances and recordings. Because otherwise, would an amateur ensemble...

Dean Crocker creative commons editions

Hello, Just recently, I discovered a whole bunch of public domain music typesets by someone called Dean Crocker; they are freely downloadable on his website and seem to all be licensed under CC licenses. For instance, this page says the following: "This Edition of Johann Cramer’s Piano Quartet,...

Copyright violation - Rheinberger Nonet

Early last year, a very welcome scan was uploaded of the first edition score of Rheinberger's nonet ( link ). This is actually from the Carus Verlag reprint - no harm there. However, the file also includes the 1993 preface, which I believe is a copyright violation. The same file also includes the co...

Re: Vivaldi

Hello Nelly. Different editions of a piece often have differences for a variety of reasons (good or bad) and it might be hard to figure out which version is the most "original"... On IMSLP, Vivaldi's spring can be found here: https://imslp.org/wiki/Violin_Concerto_in_E_major%2C_RV_269_(Viv...

Re: Where do the *parts* for an arrangement get uploaded?

Hi, parts for arrangements get added in the same entry as the score, so the best thing would've been to batch upload the parts along with the score. That's too late now, but you can still upload the parts as a new arrangement, and then edit the wiki page to put them with the score after all.

Re: Concerto grosso in G minor 'Fatto per la Notte di Natale', Op.6 No.8 (Corelli, Arcangelo)

Work page for reference. There seems to be some uncertainty about who wrote that preface? If by Woehl, then it'll be approved in 2027 for being PD in Canada. If by Edwin Kalmus, it'll be 2040. Maybe waiting until 2027 was a short enough time to leave it pending instead of deleting it outright. I ha...

Heads up to anyone still reading this that the Tango is now apparently available as digital (printable) sheet music from some independent publisher???

Re: Baroque Instrumentation/Notation involving Transposing Instruments?

Old thread, but I have to rectify my earlier stupidity. The marking is essentially "D la sol re" and indeed a hexachordal designation that conveys both pitch class and octave, and these markings did occur much later than I'd thought; see image B in this page . Also, not only was I wrong ab...

Re: 1 composer, 2 workpages

Thanks for the heads-up. We've already been through this exact issue, as this other thread can attest . After that merge, it looks like somebody created Wurmser-Delcourt again, having missed the existing work page, in order to add the chromatic harp method, which we also already had. I've merged the...

Re: Lowe & Brydone F.H.986

The print shop is often not the same company that produced the edition; the plate number matches a format used by Hösick so I assume it might be an edition of theirs. The plate number would put it somewhere in the early 20th century.

Re: Crop Pages on PDF files

If your scans are well-lined up relative to eachother, you can also consider BRISS, which has an interface which lets you set the margins, separately for odd and even pages (among others).
