Haydn songs, urtext

I have a book of songs in German and English by Joseph Haydn. It is an urtext edition published in 1982 by G. Henle Verlag in Munich. It seems to only contain original, period texts, and is largely a resetting of the 1960 edition of Haydn's complete works, put out by the Joseph Haydn Institute. It's...

Re: Muzgiz collection

Hi all, I don't now if this is the place for my q, but anyway here it goes. I am interested to buy a collection of the Soviet era songs published by Muzgiz. They used to do it on an yearly basis. Songs like "Kalinka", "Pod Moskovnieh vechera", etc.. How can I reach the/a source ...

Re: Piano reductions and vocal scores

Since it's rather difficult to make a call on copyright, that leaves me in a bit of a catch 22. A complete vocal score is a lot of work. I will want to know whether it is public domain before I scan and upload it, but in order to have a real copyright review, it needs to be scanned and uploaded. Is ...

Piano reductions and vocal scores

I am going to try to focus on getting more vocal scores uploaded, but I'm a little unclear on whether a piano reduction of a public domain piece is itself public domain, or whether it is granted a new copyright. For example, I've had someone request uploads of more baroque operas by the likes of Viv...

H.T. Burleigh - Just You

This post serves two purposes. I have a collection of H.T. Burleigh spirituals, but it only has the first page of "Just You". First, does anyone out there have a complete version of this song? Second, if no one has this, is it worth uploading only the first page and marking it as incomplete?

Re: Jumbo Frankfurters

Goethe Univ Frankfurt has 75 music socres, but many of them are very big greyscale PDFs e.g. 30-50M for 8 pages. However, when processed as usual (GIMP) the results are fuzzy. Any suggestions? Example at IMSLP 254033. Did you open the PDF directly in Gimp? I tried this the other day with a 600 dpi ...

Irregular paper size

I have some scores that I'm about to scan, but they don't really fit any standard paper size as far as I can tell. They're larger than A4 and much smaller than A3. Should I resize them down to one of the standard paper sizes? If not, what size should the pages of the PDF be? Do I just leave them cro...

Have you tried CPDL? They have a lot of early vocal music.

Re: Search by date uploaded (from 3 years ago)

Do you have more information about the PDF besides its upload date?

It's probably possible to find it by using the Index Number Reverse Lookup, but that could get a bit tedious. If you have more information, like who uploaded it, or what type of piece it is, there may be easier ways to find it.

Re: Unpublished work

What is the composer's name? You're right that this composer's works are not in the public domain. They won't be public domain in Canada until 2027. It will be even longer elsewhere. In order to upload his or her works to IMSLP, you will need permission from the copyright holder. I would think the f...

Re: PDF optimization for tablets

I use the command line tools tiffcp and tiff2pdf for my own scans. At some point I looked up the compression scheme that these tools use, and they use the scheme recommended by IMSLP. It would not be hard to write a script to automatically convert the Sibley files. I would like to test these files o...

Re: PDF optimization for tablets

I see. He is just reducing the resolution. I downloaded the black and white music pdf from the page you linked to my Android tablet, and it had reasonable performance. I see that you uploaded that score. Did you do anything in particular to make it easier to load? For example, here's a song that I'v...

PDF optimization for tablets

I found a post on another forum about optimizing scores from IMSLP for reading on tablets. There was a link to a website that would optimize a score for you. The website requires an email address, and the post looked just sketchy enough that I didn't want to enter my email address. However, the webs...

Your best bet at getting this corrected is contacting the typesetter via the wiki. He is still actively contributing to the wiki, but may not read the forums.
