Re: Plate harvesting script

I've been working on standardizing. There are two main issues: 1. The format: Place: Publisher, Date. Plate No. ## is not adhered to. It is extremely common to see: Place: Publisher, Date, plate No. ###. Actually, in musicology (at least according to http://www.hfm-weimar.de/v1/musikwissenschaft/Bi...

Re: Request for Comments: Deprecation of MUS and SIB files

As mentioned ideally the source should attached to the pdf. I don't think that's a good idea, as my tests show that the .mus source is about the same size as the PDF, and a MusicXML file is much larger. Attaching the source directly to the pdf forces everyone to download more than twice as much tha...

Re: Request for Comments: Deprecation of MUS and SIB files

Now that got me thinking: do we really need to allow MUS/SIB files? PDF seems to be doing fine, You are right, as long as every possible score you need is available. However, if there is e.g. only the full score available and you need the individual parts for a performance, you are totally out of l...

Re: Dowland, John - scanning issue?

It is really just you ;-) Here, it works fine, at least the two pdfs of "First Set of Songs, in Four Parts". I haven't tried the others, but these two display just fine.

Re: Number of files.

Is the the absolut max number of files 15 or is it only 15 files at ione time. No, don't worry, the 15-file limit is only for a single upload. You can upload more files in a second (or third) upload. Each upload will generate one separate box, but you can manually copy the "File Name n", ...

Piece for Cello and bariton/bass???

Hi all, Does anyone know a nice piece for bariton/bass solo together with cello (or an arrangement of some other piece for voice+cello). My girlfriend is a cello player, I'm a singer, and my sister asked me if you could do anything at their wedding... I've looked for such pieces, but I haven't found...

Re: Orchestra material in one PDF or individual PDFs?

I was mainly talking about short graduale and offertoria, where each instrumental part is one to three pages long, so blank pages and other peculiarities are not an issue... So, I got one pro and one contra, but nothing really definitive what the standard at IMSLP should be... Personally, I prefer o...

WHICH THEN PLACES THE CLAIM THAT EDWARD RECORDED THE MAHLER SYMPHONY NO3 AMONG OTHER WORKS FROM BBC BROADCASTS INTO DOUBT AS THEY WERE NOT BROADCAST UNTIL 1947. See http://www.testament.co.uk/media/notes/SBT1422note.pdf for an article about the findings that Eward really recorded the broadcast off ...

Template design for parts in the OP Project

I have scanned several Graduale and Offertoria by J. Eybler, published 1820-1830, together with all instrumental parts. Now, should I upload the individual instruments separately as one PDF per instruments (consisting of 1 or 2 pages) or is is better to join all the instruments to one big PDF contai...

Re: A cool Bruckner site

Didn't Europe recently extend it to 70 years? I though I heard McCartney jumping for joy over a few extra million dollars to his few billion. It is not yet officially extended, but it will be in the near future. The current legal situation is as follows: On April 23, the European Parliament approve...

Re: A cool Bruckner site

Even if he owns the recordings, aren't these illegal to be posted online for download if the recordings are fairly recent? From what I see, most of the recordings are quite old recordings, which are out of copyright in Europe (50 years after the recording, so everything recorded before 1959 is free...

Looking for free piano score of Schuberts Stabat Mater D383

Hi all, Since I'm preparing a free edition of Schubert's Stabat Mater D383 (complete with individual instrumental parts, choral score, full orchestral score etc), I'm looking for a piano reduction of the piece, which is out of copyright. The only one I have found so far is the one by Georg Göhler, w...

Re: 'TB' block

I agree that the [TB] blocking is quite inconsistent. For example, compare the following two pieces, which are apparently from the same publisher from around the same time: http://imslp.org/wiki/2_Elegies,_Op.59_(Medtner,_Nikolai_Karlovich) (Blocked) http://imslp.org/wiki/Etude_(Medtner,_Nikolai_Kar...

Hmm. The "rule" to use the composer's own language will throw up exceptions anyway, since composers often write in non-native languages. It would seem pointless to always insist on German titles for Italian operas composed by a German... Again, thinking of certain Mozart works: my mind ea...
