IMSLP site speed issues fixed

Post by imslp »

I'm just posting because I feel the need to congratulate myself (and boast a bit) about how, after three rather major optimizations (two to the code and one to Apache), the site runs so much smoother now :D Even though it took 10 hours, the result was much better than I thought. Seems like I can stick with this server a while longer :P

Post whatever you like in this thread ;)

P.S. Now changing templates should not bring down IMSLP :D

Thanks for the great work - it certainly runs faster now for me, even on my old wheezing Mac, which almost feels almost young again when cruising about IMSLP!

Hey... I'm supposed to be a musician... which is enough to justify me being mad I think ;)

Ok... so something is STILL killing the cache. Back to the drawing board -_-

Edit: Apparently cache is NOT invalidated, but something else weird is happening... I have no idea what is using up all the CPU time.

Edit2: I've found the problem and mostly worked around it :) Editing templates should really not crash the server now.
