Avoid page deletions

Post by Leonard Vertighel »

I've been thinking about page deletions, and it occurred to me that it is better to avoid deleting a page if the content has been moved to another page, because it will break links from external sites. If the first page is turned into a redirect instead, links from external sites will remain valid.

I have written up some rules in Help:Page deletion. Feel free to make any corrections, or discuss any issues or ideas in this thread.

I think that would be dandy so long as the page to have been deleted no longer appears on the composer's page, but rather the parent composition with which it was merged.

If a page is turned into a simple redirect, without any additional category links or the like, it will no longer appear on the composer page, so there should be no problem.
