Take a lesson from Biology. Information is the most costly asset you have. The best way to protect it is to copy and spread it as widely as possible. That is why our DNA is replicated in every cell.

As soon as the site is up again, a lot of people will have to start replicating the site, and spread copies of its content to as many locations as possible, to avoid any further disruptions. We cannot allow a "single point of failure" when protecting the Public Domain. Project Gutenberg has followed this model from the start.

If file integrity is a concern, digital signatures are a good answer.
