Guidelines for assigning quality-of-scan ratings

Dear all,

Is there a set of guidelines for assigning ratings to scans? That is, a commonly-agreed-upon set of rules (or, at least, examples) describing how many stars to assign based on characteristics of the scan?

I have not been able to find such guidelines on the IMSLP site, nor have I found any such guidelines in this forum, though some threads seem to discuss related issues, e.g. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5160

Thanks!

Thanks! --- These are very helpful.

I wondered if there were some "official" guidelines that attempted to ensure that ratings by different people were consistent. And possibly included best practices for subtle cases, e.g. in which cases "2 stars" is an appropriate rating instead of "3 stars".

Perhaps these guidelines should pop up - not to speak of a CAPTCHA test - when you click somewhere in the ***** of a score :-)
