Boccherini,_Luigi public domain

Hello!

I have a question about this piece:

http://imslp.org/wiki/String_Quintet_No ... ni,_Luigi)

which is uploaded by Laonikos Psimikakis-Chalkokondylis. He has no information about the publishing company
or the arranger.

But is it really public domain? I would like to ask this, because I want to know, if I could make an
arrangement of this quintet on this prensentation.

Best Regards
Peter Heeren

Publisher details are not exactly known, but it is marked as being "checked" for public domain because it is strongly suspected to be so due to the composer, original contributor (SMF) and other score details.

Dear daphnis!

Thank you very much for your answer!

First, there is a little mistake in the link

http://imslp.org/wiki/String_Quintet_No ... ini,_Luigi)

If you click on it, you have to complement a “)”

O.k., it is strongly suspected that this arrangement is public domain, but there is no evidence...

The presentation is obviously an extract. Normally at the beginning of this piece would be presented the arranger.
Is there a chance to get the beginning of this presentation?

Greetings
Peter Heeren

Peter, sure there is a chance, however as you know, this is one of the most recognizable melodies in all of Classic music, and because of that there must be hundreds of transcriptions by dozens of individuals for every instrument combination conceivable. With nothing substantial to go on, it would be a considerable task to essentially "guess" the origins of the present transcription.

Dear daphnis!
I guess I have choosen wrong words, please apologize my english.
I would like to say, if there is a chance to see the page of this publication, on which the arranger or the publishing house is noted. On page 16 and 17 (pages published by IMSLP) is just not this information.

Hello Daphnis! I do not understand, please excuse me.
I guessed IMSPL has checked the copyright of all pieces published on web. How is that possible without knowledge about publishing house and arranger? Isn’t it possible for example that the arranger (quintet to piano) is just alive or died after 23.09.1939?

That's why it's marked as 'checked' (C/C/C) rather than 'verified'. True, it could have been arranged or edited in someway in 1972, however as I mentioned, given the age and appearance, it is highly suspected to be public domain.
