Medtner Lieder translators

Post by goldberg988 »

I have two opera of Medtner Lieder to upload; op. 37 and op. 45 published by Zimmermann copyright 1923 and 1926 respectively. The German translator is Oskar von Riesemann (d. 1934), so no problem there; the English translation is not credited in my scores but according to Worldcat is "A. Collingwood." (https://www.worldcat.org/title/vier-lie ... ef_results).

Any idea who "A. Collingwood" would be, and if his or her translation would be PD?

In any case, I can redact the English translations entirely, if necessary.

Hard to say might be several different people PD Everywhere to Non-PD:

Arthur Collingwood (1880-1952)
Arthur Lawrence Collingwood (1887-1982)

But if the English translation is not credited in this score can the author thereof claim copyright?
