Redirecting names

Post by Richard Mix »

I've made a start at what I think is a more singer-friendly list of Songs by Mussorgsky http://imslp.org/wiki/List_of_works_by_ ... gsky#Songs
but wonder if there is a preferred way of linking names: Goethe has a redirect to Category:Goethe, Johann von; but Pushkin doesn't yet.

Since you're putting the names of the various text authors in a wiki table, it seems the simplest thing to use would be the {{LinkCompS}} template. Though originally designed for composers, this works with any person category. Thus using {{LinkCompS|Aleksandr|Pushkin}} should appear in the table as "Pushkin" and link you to his category page. No need to mess with redirects and the like that way.

Thanks! I had just noticed LinkCompS and was wondering why there's no LinkLibS.

I wonder if it would be helpful to have different flavors of the S versions, or easier to just have one additional - named LinkNameS - tp cover all non-composers.
