Louis Laporte

Post by KGill »

I found something by him on Sibley and want to mirror it, but I can't find his dates. All I know is that the work was published in 1892 by Bornemann.
Does anyone know?

I looked all over as well ---- nothing! I notice that if one uploads an item when there are no dates for the composer (like Laporte), it defaults to a Work1923 template which has to be dealt with using the <!--noautotag--> command.

Interesting, I wonder how they got their hands on it...so you guessed his dates as 1850-1930? This is slightly irregular, but your guess is probably not far off...I probably shouldn't have uploaded it in the first place. Thanks!

No problem with uploading it. It doesn't allow me to put ca.1850 - ca.1930 - perhaps another solution is preferable. I based my estimate on the approximate dates of publication of items in WorldCat, which appear to stop around 1930 (aside from reprints).

You can use "|Birth Date=" and "|Death Date=" for non-standard and approximate dates, in place of the standard trio. It will also abort the autotagger. More information about this can be found on the manual page ("How to edit this template" link on the composer template).
