Tosca

Post by NLewis »

Does anyone know of a reduction of Tosca that is larger than the McConathy 2/1/2/1-2/2/1/0, but substantially smaller than the original 3/3/3/3-4/3/3/1? Thoughts? Advice?

I've not checked at Ricordi's site, but as I recall Ettore Panizza (1875-1967) made reduced orchestrations for a number of the Puccini operas for them - some are still protected in the USA but others are not. The one he did for Funiciulla del West has winds in twos.
