How to "Image Capture" parts of a Score

Post by JosefinaHW »

Greetings,

This is my first post in the forum. I have found and downloaded the score to Verdi, MacBeth, Pietta, Rispetto, Amore. I would like to take two-three line blocks of the score and paste them into a Music Discussion forum so that interested members can discuss the score in manageable parts. I would appreciate it greatly if someone could tell me how to create these two-three line blocks. I have never used Photoshop. TYVM Jo

I hope your Music Discussion forum allows you to insert small images. Then:

1: Install pdftk from https://www.pdflabs.com/tools/pdftk-the-pdf-toolkit/ and cut the page you want from the big pdf of the score. You will obtain a 1-page pdf.

2: Install Imagemagick from http://imagemagick.org/script/index.php and convert this page into jpg, saying
convert -density 600 thispage.pdf thispage.jpg Often a lower density is possible without losing any quality. Magnify a portion of the image a lot with both applications and make comparisons.

3: Install Irfanview from http://www.irfanview.com/ Draw a rectangle around the passage you want and type ctrl Y to select it.
