Misclassified scores?

Post by ptoye »

This score http://imslp.org/wiki/Jagdlied%2C_D.521 ... %2C_Franz) is classified as "Chorus and piano". The header distinctly says "Eine Singstimme".

http://imslp.org/wiki/Das_grosse_Hallel ... %2C_Franz) is for "gesang" which I think implies a single voice. There's no chorus part, anyway.

There seem to be quite a few scores in the "chorus and piano" category which are for solo voice. Maybe I'm not putting the right search terms in.

Notice the lack of a dedicated solo line in either of these Breitkopf items, as well as the distinctly homophonic aspects of the compositions.
These may be examples of a publisher providing solo arrangements for music that was originally written by Schubert for women's / men's voices.

I agree with your comment, but I think the classification is still suspect.
