Alban Berg, three scores

Post by wmichael.taylor »

Although Berg is now out of copyright in Europe there are three scores that have still to appear on IMSLP: Wozzeck is, as I understand it, hald back by the English text included in the UE edition of 1955 (in Apostel's revision) which is still under copyright. There was, however, an earlier score (as IMSLP's summary indicates), UE7379 of 1926 which has no translation & should, therefore be legal. The Orchestral Pieces Op. 6 & Chamber Concerto were both issued in facsimile editions that differ in certain respects from the subsequent publications & it would be good to have these available. Can anyone oblige?

If you guys can get ahold of these, great otherwise it might be pretty hard to come by these. As a copyright admin, yes all of these I believe are fair game your mentioning, except for the Wozzeck which we have it blocked unless someone were to start a project and go into all 480 pages and remove all the translations, then we could release it for the first time.

if all you need is to browse and not upload them, they can often be browsed to read while listening at Universal Edition's website... (not to be deprecated, this can be both pleasant and useful!... IMHonestO :)... )
