Bernhard Stavenhagen: Op.3

Post by Declan Murphy »

Bernhard Stavenhagen was a pupil of Liszt and I'm researching him as much as possible to bring some information to light as most of his works are unknown or lost. I read an article published in 1895 which outlines Stavenhagen's works. Op.1 is fine of course, so is 2. Then, it comes up on IMSLP that Op.3 is unknown or lost. However, Op.2 was composed in 1882 and Op.4, in 1895 (in the article it is explained that there was an 11 year gap in which no composition was done). According to IMSLP there is a set of five songs without an Opus number published in 1893 entitled "five songs".
Since it was published in 1893, between 1882 and 1895, I'm almost a hundred percent sure that is Opus 3, and not a random set of five songs composed without an opus number.
If possible, I'd love this to get updated, I'm currently working on learning all of Stavenhagen's songs and it would be amazing to see if any more could see the light!
