a few errors in a score of JCF Fischer

Post by tuningmeister »

There are several errors in the score to the first item "Toccatina" in the Thalia suite of JCF Fischer, which is at http://imslp.org/wiki/Musicalischer_Par ... Ferdinand).

In Measure 7 the chords on the last beat should have e' flat. This at least is how an old edition scanned at http://imslp.org/wiki/S%C3%A4mtliche_We ... Ferdinand) has it, and the recordings I've heard play e flat. I haven't looked at any modern Urtext edition, however it also sounds right.

Also in the third chord (2nd beat) of measure 8, the typography has gone awry with its attempt to superimpose d' and c' on top of each other, instead of nudging on or the other of the note heads to the side. [as for instance in M 2 and 10 where it does better]. And I just noticed that some notes are not aligned, that could be - but perhaps this is necessary because they are shown with their own separate tails. (?) E.g., m 8, 10, 13.

I've just looked at both of the scores you reference. Unless I have missed something, measure 7 in both versions do indeed have E-flat in the right hand on beat 3. I see what you mean about the note alignment in the other bars, but both documents show the same peculiarity. Perhaps the later contributor was trying to duplicate the earlier file?
