Leclair score in wrong place

Post by dsimons »

Score #342572, "Sonata No. 1 in D Major", is archived in IMSLP under Jean-Marie Leclair Op. 13. The edition is scored for violin, cello, and "clavier". Leclair published two very similar versions of this piece: Op. 2 #8 for violin or flute, gamba (viele), and continuo (Clavesin ou violonchel), and Op. 13 Sonata 1 for two violins and continuo. The Op. 2 version is the only piece in that opus not for solo violin and continuo. The IMSLP score in question appears to be a transcription of Op. 2 #8, with the gamba part written in tenor clef and labelled "violoncelle". I think it is both mistitled and misplace; and should be archived with Op. 2.
