Alfred, B.16 (Dvořák, Antonín)

Post by perdicula »

There seems to be no way of finding this work under its better-known titles, i.e. the "Tragic Overture, B. 16a" or the "Dramatic Overture". I'm new to these Boards, so I don't know whether you can create aliases or cross-references. I do know it took me a long time to find this work, though!

I tried searching "dvorak dramatic ouverture" and "dvorak tragic ouverture" and ended up with Alfred as the first result both times, so are you sure there's a problem? The cross-references that you are referring to do exist and show up as an italicized work on the composer's page which then redirects to the actual work, but those are used sparingly and mostly for commonly held misattributions or misunderstandings (I suspect we'll see a lot of those when Shosty's "jazz suite" enters the public domain). For the most part, IMSLP calls things by what they are, and I think that's good.
