If this thread is still active, here is some basic clarification on the Resphigi "Ancient Airs and Dances." Keep in mind that he published the original 6 movement suite before he orchestrated any of them, and these six movements can be found throughout the 12 movements of the 3 suites. The movements that he wrote/orchestrated from these lute pieces for the suites that were not in the original piano suite were never actually written by Respighi (there's a large misconception that the piano excerpts were after the suites, which is incorrect). There have been one or two artists that have transcribed their own versions for recording (for instance the Naxos recording has two additional excerpts, as noted), but these have never been published to my understanding, but I repeat that these were NOT part of the original suite (which there is only the one PIANO suite).

Someone — possibly someone who read this very discussion — has taken pity on our plight and made a two-hands version of the Bergamasca, based on the orchestral and 4-hands scores of the piece.

Hearty thanks to Shawn Heller, and I think I'll be downloading this soon. The first page is shown, and can be enlarged (I put it on my portrait-orientation monitor and increased screen magnification until I could see it from the piano in my office and played it as well as I could with my neck twisted 95 degrees). It doesn't say how many pages it is, but so far, so good.

I hope the gentleman's wife is patient, since I'm posting this six years after the last entry.

(And now that I've hit 'preview,' I can see that somebody answered this question with the same link three months and one day ago — apparently the transcriber himself. I'm just about to order the piece and print it out, and from what I've seen, I expect to post a positive review here soon.)
