Question about BWV 637?!

Post by stormlyte »

Hey there!

Please tell me I'm not going insane. I am attempting to listen to all of J.S. Bach's works. I got to BWV 637 on this page:

https://imslp.org/wiki/List_of_works_by ... stian_Bach

and saw that there are two of them. Not a 637a, or b, just two 637's, one with (I) and one with (II) at the end. Well, no matter, I'll look at the BC's...K66. and K144. Well, that's bizarre.

I then attempted to look at bach-cantatas.com to get some help. ....but they don't even match K144 to BWV 637. K66 is matched with BWV 637, but not K144. What is happening. Are there actually two versions of BWV 637? If so, how do I find them?

I did some more frantic google searching and I saw that on this site:

https://www.oxfordmusiconline.com/grove ... 6002278195

K144 matches with BWV 705....which has the same title as BWV 637, "Durch Adams Fall ist ganz verderbt". What. Is. Happening.

Let me know what y'all dig up! Thank you!
