Access from Japan

Post by festin_d_esope »

In accessing from Japan, a lot of access are blocked at PD(in Japan) works of early-20th-century composers (R.Strauss, Sibelius, etc...).
Maybe these blockings rest on US laws. In Japanese laws, term of protection is 50 years after the author's death.(http://www.cric.or.jp/cric_e/clj/clj.html)

I request review. Japan is not occupied!! If it is a technical problem, I request the reform.

Hy Festin-d-esope,

I think the blocked files are really caused by the US law. I had a similiar question about two days ago.

In the EU a score is PD and in the US, why ever, it is non PD. And the most downloads are from the US and so a score is blocked for all. I hope they will find a technical solution to unblock a score in this case for countries in which law it's PD.
