PDF from BNF

Post by Zeyar Shwe »

I have been uploading harp music PDF from the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The first 2 pages of the PDF from B.N.F are the added pages from the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and I deleted the first 2 pages before uploading them on IMSLP. Am I infringing any regulations by deleting the added pages from the PDF? On reading the conditions from the BNF I do not think that I am infinging any regulation. Or do I need to upload the PDF from the BNF as they are without deleting the first 2 pages? I would be grateful for an advice from an admin.

What you're doing is exactly right, actually. There's no violation of any regulation, and we prefer at IMSLP to avoid inclusion of these added pages because they often imply, at least for the casual reader, some sort of copyright claim by the library on their scan.

These simply-available pdfs are low resolution. You can fetch the 400-dpi images directly with urls like http://gallica.bnf.fr//iiif/ark:/12148/ ... native.jpg replacing bpt6k51218v with the ID found in the notice of this score and 66 with the page number you want. There is no copyright claim with these images.

What do you mean with "replacing bpt6k51218v with the ID found in the notice of this score"?

Give me the composer and work title and I'll try it.

Thanks. Then I reach the page http://gallica.bnf.fr/services/engine/s ... suggest=10 Click Informations détaillées

Notice complète give the line with Identifiant: ark:/12148/btv1b9058546w

http://gallica.bnf.fr//iiif/ark:/12148/ ... native.jpg is the first page of music. Make a script that fetches all pages from 1 to 22. Some of them are blank.

Did you know?
You can listen to any PDF instead of reading with Adobe Reader 7 .0 Or 6.0, and the short cut is:
Ctrlshiftb - to hear the entire Document
Ctrlshiftv - to hear the page
Ctrlshiftc - to resume
Ctrlshifte - to stop

Open any PDF File and test.... unbelievable
