File Types

Post by Gacb »

It would be helpful for people wanting to edit typeset files; transpose, change voicing etc. to have access to other file formats other than Finale and Sibelius. Lilypond (.ly) and the compressed MusicXML (.mxl) or plain XML formats have become more universally acceptable.

In addition, they are both light weight, especially MXL.

Finale and Sibelius files have been deprecated (along with all other score formats except PDF). However, you can attach any source file to a PDF, no matter the format.
