[FEAT] Incipits

Post by pml »

Many vocal works have a title that differs from the first sung lyrics, and for these we have no current field in the general information to record where the sung text is notable, and may be the topic of a search. I’ve added (yet another) optional field to the FTE template for IMSLP work pages which allows an incipit text to be added there – the default is after the librettist and before the language fields, though if this is unsuitable it can be changed around as you like it. To add an incipit to an existing page, all that is required in the general information section is a line such as:

|Incipit = In Xanadu, did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure-dome decree

This is particularly useful for individual lieder and art songs, or concert arias; not so much for extended vocal works such as opera, or lieder-cycles comprising multiple poems.

Regards, Philip

PS For the time being until caching catches up with the change you may need to do a purge of the target page to show the Incipit field.
