Files lost???

Post by kalliwoda »

I just noticed that 2 scores I submitted months ago can now not be found, see here:
http://imslp.org/wiki/Divertimento,_Hob ... n,_Joseph)

There were 2 sets of parts uploaded, but the page now displays an error message for the second set:
File entry #5 render error: filename not in index. Please use the add file links to submit files to the page.

The page has not been edited recently, and in the edit window all seems fine. Of the 6 "invisible" parts Oboe 1,2, Horn 1,2 can be found directly by copying the filename into the url, but Bassoon 1,2 "do not exist". Should I re-upload these lost parts or can this be fixed?

And same story here, no files found:

The files were not lost; it is just a bug. This will be fixed before the end of today (though caching may take a few days to clear).

Thanks for the fix on sunday evening, but the problem seems now (48 hrs later) to persist on a different level:

Now the workpages display correctly, but the files themselves cannot be accessed with a "FileNotExistErrorMB" error message.
At http://imslp.org/wiki/Avant_et_Retour,_ ... ger,_Paul), there is also a broken link to the thumb.

I cannot seem to access the files through the wiki. I think it is a result of a change in file name handling in the new MediaWiki, where certain exotic characters in file names are no longer permitted. Specifically, I think the files in question had spaces that weren't regular spaces (probably some Unicode look-alike), which the current MediaWiki version does not allow.

There are 59 such cases in total. Would it be possible for you to reupload any files unavailable due to this problem? You can just use the IMSLP # link in the file entry and repload it using the upload page; you don't have to re-submit it.

P.S. If you no longer have the files, please tell me and I'll try to think of another way.

So much for my love of the "non-breaking" spaces on my Mac (option-space)...
I replaced the 35 files with this problem I could identify, are the others also my fault??

I would then need some hint how to find them, searching imslp with "FileNotExistErrorMB" is not giving a complete list.

It seems that the google search slowly gets more hits - so I may be able to find all of the problem files in a few days.
At the moment I am counting 46 such files.

Now: There are six files for "Der Getreue Musikmeister" that I don't have anymore (high-res scans from BNF).
http://imslp.org/wiki/Der_getreue_Music ... g_Philipp)
These would be a lot of work to reupload, because Gallica now allows to save high-res scans only in 4-6 parts per page that would have to be assembled into complete pages. Any chance these could be resurrected?

Another question. In all your links the right bracket is missing, so it is bit cumbersome to come to the corresponding site.
This happens not only with your links, but also with those of other users. What may be the reason?
P.S. I looked up imslp.ru and sma for the telemann-files. No success.

@Kalliwoda: I looked through one of the backups and found the files.

Regarding the 59 number, it includes all files that have some sort of file name problem, whether or not you uploaded it, and regardless of whether the problem is non-breaking-space related. That said, it is likely at least several of the files have been removed or reuploaded under a valid file name, so I won't worry if the numbers don't add up completely.

Super,
thank you very much for resurrecting the files for Der Getreue Musikmeister.

@Notenschreiber: I just copied the entire url window, and I was always under the impression, that this was a Safari-related bug, unable to interpret text as url if it has a backbracket or Umlaut. Are you using a different browser?
It may be possible to circumvent this bug by entering the corresponding unicode for the back-bracket??

I use Firefox. The text is interpreted as url (blue coloured) and it is possible to enter the missing (resp. not interpreted) bracket.
One can live with this bug.

I think it is a bug of the forum (PHPBB) code. I don't administer the forum server so I can't do anything about it, though that said, this is a bug in the PHPBB software itself and not our particular forum.
