STENHAMMAR 'Excelsior'

Post by Contratrombone64 »

Hello - my title says it all really - anyone have a copy of the full score of this marvellous overture they might share?

Composer: Wilhelm STENHAMMAR
Work: "Excelsior Overture"

I'll settle for full score or reduction (so long as it's a musically honest reduction/arrangement) - though of course it would be good to have not just something but full score and parts and etc. (and manuscript scan even, if ms. still exists) of the work eventually. But in my own opinion, something, for starters. A very fine work (especially when heard uncut. A number of performances cut a difficult passage for the strings near the end of the concert overture- including the BBC Proms performance a year or so ago, and this otherwise enjoyable performance from 2010 (YouTube video, 2 parts).

Now that I see that it wasn't published (it seems?) until 1938 (and again in 2013) - and possibly never in a typeset form, always in a manuscript reprint (even the Munich Hoflich version?) - it may not be possible to upload in a form that's public domain in the US, at least...
