Erest Heim (ed) Palaestra

Post by WilliamBunting »

This 10-vol collection published by Augener ca. 1899-1914 contains many unusual works.

Palaestra : a collection of pieces, sonatas, suites and concert-pieces for violin solo, with pianoforte accompaniment ; arranged in progressive order, carefully marked and annotated

See COPAC for detailed contents.

Copies in the UK at BL RCM and Leeds, as well as in Holland and the US

Erm- no!

Not necessarily!

Note: LCCN: "unk84174765". To quote an email that a LoC librarian sent me in another connection:

"The "unk" prefix -- designating "unknown" -- that appears as part of this item's Library control/accession number indicates that it is an "unverified" bibliographic record, i.e., a record originally created in anticipation of the acquisition of this score by the Library -- but an acquisition that [in the case of the symphony I was asking him about] apparently never materialized."

So the work may, or may not be there; but the presence of the entry in the LoC catalog is not in itself evidence that they have it, unless that "unk" is absent, I gather.
