Skalkottas out of copyright in EU on Jan 1st

Post by BrynClarke »

The wonderful music of Nicos Skalkottas will be out of copyright in the EU on January 1, 2020. It would be fantastic to have some scores and parts of some of his amazing orchestral (and wind band) music on IMSLP - e.g. the Greek Dances

Happy new year! Thanks for the heads up, I've just uploaded his most important composition with more to follow.

Don't you know the big one for the EU is Richard Strauss??!! He's finally free in the EU (where most of his music is based!).

Alas, Richard Strauss did not write a concerto for the double bass, so he is irrelevant.

I have just finished uploading everything by Skalkottas that I could get from Issuu, except for the concertino for oboe and chamber orchestra, which is an arrangement by Gunther Schuller (1925 - 2015) and not PD.

Little bit queasy about using Issuu as a source, since I believe they mean for their scores to be used for perusal...
