Liszt - Hexameron (Morceaux de concert. Grandes variations de bravoure sur la marche des Puritains de Bellini), S.365b

Post by Andrey_BG »

Dear Community,

I'm looking for the possibility to find the materials (possibly for purchase or hire/rent) for Piano with Orchestra:
Liszt - Hexameron (Morceaux de concert. Grandes variations de bravoure sur la marche des Puritains de Bellini), S.365b

Could one recommend where it is possible to find them, which edition holds the rights for this piece.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Andrey

Dear Andrey,

You can hire the score from the Liszt Society in the UK. (by the way the concerto version is not 365b but 365a) Contact them to get more information.

Dear Minkyu Kim,

First of all thank you. I will try to contact them and hope for success.

Regarding the catalogue number I refer to this list of works:
https://imslp.org/wiki/List_of_works_by_Franz_Liszt

Behind 365a there is Concerto pathetique.

Thank you again and all the best,
Andrey

It's for sure 365b, as per Leslie Howard's recording (and Howard is the one who did the current catalog).

Hi,

I recently checked Dr. Leslie Howard's new work list which he is working on now, I can assure you the Hexameron is S365a in the list. You may check Hyperion Records page (https://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/tw.asp?w=W5619), as you can see it is S365a. But I can see why this confusion happened, since the booklet of Howard's recording wrongly gave S365b to it. (you can see the concerto pathétique also got S365b in Howard's booklet) The IMSLP work list has a lot of errors and old catalog numbers and needs to be updated. Hope you can get access to the score!

Best regards,

Minkyu Kim

I just checked and the box set they released back in 2011 also has Hexameron as a and Pathetique as b.
So yeah, that seems to be correct.
