i was wondering if anyone needs that music books scanned? them are from the former ddr (east germany)

i'm using ubuntu 9.10 with the epson V100 scanner:

scanned at 600dpi (should i go 1200?) without adding any filters..what do you think about the quality? any suggestions with what program (native linux) i can add the filter used in this tut http://imslp.org/wiki/High_Quality_Scanning in the second picture?

if i'll scan this will this be available in the imslp.org/wiki like all the other scores or does it not fit the imslp's topic?

You can upload it to IMSLP: books whose primary topics are music are allowed. Put the author as composer, and use the normal copyright guidelines as always. That engraving looks fairly modern; when were these published? Was there an editor, or was it just a straight (re-)engraving?

now two questions left:
1. if the 600dpi is ok then also i would like to add a filter:

Judging from WorldCat, it appears to have been published in 1965. Heft II came out in 1968. If this is a critical edition with no original editorial markings, then my guess is that it's all right in Canada at least. CRs, what say?

Issues from the GDR (East Germany) had no copyright protection in the USA at all, though (as with the Soviet publications) works of recent composers were protected via the GATT/TRIPs "restoration" amendments in 1996. Urtext editions issued there (usually under the names of publishers whose facilities had been taken over by the state enterprise) were not eligible due to Germany's 25-year term for such editions (GDR was unified with the rest of Germany in 1990). The 1965 and 1968 recorder issues would be free in the USA, in the EU, and (most likely) Canada.

(c-flute:) as the 2nd headline says it's once for c-flute and once piano..there are 8 pages for c-flute which i've all already scanned (600dpi)

(piano:) after the 1-3 into/info pages follows the 4th-27th pages for piano and the 28th page is some info about the categories used in that music book

ps: in Genre dropdown menu i couldn't find ~"Piano and/or Flute" since this is either "for c-flute (or any other melody instrument) or piano"
pps: if scanning the cover in full color range the file is ~50MB so i left this out

You would use "Single instrument with piano piece" or, if a piece is a sonata, "Sonata (piano with 1 instrument). Don't worry too much if you didn't choose a correct one -- it can be changed after you submit it. I regularly correct small things like that.

If a flute player wants to search for something like this, he can go to the search box and type in:

"Single instrument with piano piece" flute

and they will all come up.

[Edit] I have corrected the genre now, but I am going to download this at work next week. Depending on which composers are in the book, I may change the instrumentation to harpsichord, since the piano was a later 1700s instrument.
