Private messages

If you send a private message, then go to your outbox and delete the message, does that mean that the recipient of the message will no longer have it as well, or does it just delete it from your menu?

I just deletes it from your menu. It is, however, generally a good idea to save your messages for archiving sake...

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that messages remain in the outbox until delivered to the user. This means if the message is deleted from the outbox it hasn't yet been delivered, which means the recipient will then not receive it.

Daphnis is right. Messages in the outbox have not been read by the recipient yet, and they can be deleted. Messages read by the recipient get moved from the outbox to the sentbox then. Deleting a message in the sentbox has no effect, as the message has been delivered already to the recipient.
