Re: The Esterhazy Masses of Johann Nepomuk Fuchs (1766-1839)
The Austrian National Library does not have any of Fuchs's masses (except one handwritten set of parts of a C major mass). Apparently, these masses were never published by an Austrian publisher (Diabelli, Haslinger, Steiner, etc.)... Maybe some of the German publishers at that time published the mas...

Re: Page about 'Used Sheet Music Stores'
I'll be in Belgrade next weekend. Does anyone know a used sheet music store there? In particular, classical Russian music is quite popular in Serbia, so this would be quite interesting.
Thanks,
Reinhold

Re: Looking for mass-suggestions (SATB+strings&organ)
Bruckner's masses, as well as Franck's mass, are some of my favorites in the genre. I agree that Bruckner's masses are beautiful, but they are also not easy (actually, the f minor mass was refused by any orchestra and choir in Vienna in the 1890s as unplayable. Bruckner then paid for an orchestra h...

Re: Looking for mass-suggestions (SATB+strings&organ)
There are lots of good masses out there. Of course, Mozart, Haydn (also Michael Haydn has excellent masses), Schubert come to mind from the classical era, Palestrina, Josquin, Monteverdi or Orlando di lasso from earlier times. But there are other, less known composers: Caldara (baroque) Eberlin (bar...

I suppose you are looking for Julius Mannheimer, e.g. http://books.google.de/books?id=7E5q5jDn-jgC&q="Julius Mannheimer"

Re: Linking work pages to Wikipedia articles
What would happen if someone deleted all the information on a Wikipedia page? I just realized that ANYONE can edit Wikipedia, whether they're a scholar or a four year old. What would happen if someone deleted all the information from a really long page? Would they get in trouble, Yes, they would pr...

A search in the catalogue of the Austrian national library (http://aleph.onb.ac.at/F?func=file&file_name=login&local_base=MUS ) reveals some printed pieces that should be in PD here in Austria: -) Gavotte. Arr. von C. von Radecki. Vc., Pianoforte. (St.) - Leipzig: Breitkopf & Härtel o.J....

RSS feed for IMSLP forum?
Would it be possible to install an RSS mod for phpbb in the forum, so that we can use e.g. akregator (or any other RSS syndicator) to read the forums instead of having to manually opening the forum in a browser, just to check for interesting new messages?
Thanks,
Reinhold

Re: Publishing a re-engraving of an IMSLP score
I don't want to make money from the project, beyond covering reasonable costs, and want it to be as freely available as the IMSLP score. I also want to make clear on the score where it comes from (IMSLP) and to pass on to those using it the same copyright obligations (or as close as I can get) whic...

Re: Magic Squares
Is the intention here to have a complete 12-pitch-class tone-row in each column and row of the square? Basically, yes. That's a consequence of how these matrices in 12-tone music are constructed. They are one approach to 12-tone composing... See http://www2.nau.edu/~krr2/12tone/12tone1.html What ab...

Re: Copy of manuscripts from the Austrian National Library
BTW, the employees seem to be quite picky that the scans are made only for private, scientific purposes and are not published. It's fine to base a new edition (even verbatim) on them and publish that, though.

Re: Copy of manuscripts from the Austrian National Library
I doubt that their claim would be about copyright - because scanning does not create a new work in the sense of the Ausrian UrhG (the Austrian copyright law). However, when you ordered the facsimiles, you entered into a contract with the Austrian national library. Posting the images here might const...

Re: Is the site-ripping script too strict???
Oh, and one more thing I intended to do tonight on IMSLP: I know I have seen some "Vide" signs (indicating optional cuts in long pieces) like the ones in the pdf attached to the following message: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-devel/2009-08/msg00928.html Since I can't search o...

Is the site-ripping script too strict???
Since I'm a lilypond developer, quite often I need to search for particular uses of music notation. So, I open several pieces of a composer in separate tabs (the "disclaimer" pages, opening new ones already while old ones load, to save time), and then quickly go through all tabs clicking o...
