Dear all,

I’m making some researches on the works of German cellist Johann Justus Friedrich Dotzauer (1783-1860).
I’ve seen that in almost all entries there is the marking “IFD” followed by a number and then “number of I-catalogue”.
Is this something akin to the “K” for Mozart and the “Hob.” for Haydn?

If so, what does the “I” stands for?
How can I retrace this catalogue and/or the person who compiled it?
Is there an existing collection of his works which is almost complete?

The I-Catalogue Number system is an internal cataloging system for IMSLP (that's what the "I" stands for). I believe the primary purpose for its creation was to solve the issue of having to create unique work page names for composers who did not assign opus numbers or who haven't had their works cataloged. I had to use it several times for the composer Gaston Borch who composed quite a number of silent film cues that used the same titles.

A pity that the composer put opus numbers on almost all his works and then the IFD is following probably the uploading schedule.

But nvm, if it is not an official think made by a possibly non-existing Dotzauer-Society, then it is not a problem.
