Saverio Mercadante Flute Concerto in e-minor

Post by ya89 »

Would be very grateful if anyone could upload Saverio Mercadante's Flute Concerto in e-minor to IMSLP. Especially any full scores, piano-flute arrangements, reductions of this piece that are in the public domain.

I'm not sure, but it may not have been published before 1973 by Suvini Zerboni. I may be wrong, though. Not sure what that says about public domain status in Europe (it's almost definitely a no in the US, and I'm thinking quite possibly a no in Canada too, especially for any piano reductions where the arranger's death date is a concern.)

Even if first published in 1973, the piece itself cannot be copyrighted in the United States unless that publication was made under the authority of Mercadante's heirs. Of course, the piece may have been published earlier (per the legal definition of publication). I don't know off the top of my head.

However, of course, any piano reductions or other arrangements are copyrightable according to the relevant details of publication and their creator's death date.
